Watu FMS · Last updated 16 October 2026

This page explains what Watu FMS does with the personal details you give us when you shop with us, message us or visit our website. We have tried to say it plainly.

Want your details deleted? Go to Delete your data.

Who we are and how to reach us

Watu FMS runs this website and shop. We decide what personal details to collect from you and why, which makes us the "data controller" under the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya.

You can reach us through the contact details at the bottom of our website, or by replying to any message we have sent you.

What we collect and why

We collect only what we need to serve you:

  • Your name, phone number and email address, so we can take your order, reach you about it and send you a receipt.
  • Your delivery place, your address and any notes you give us for the driver, and a map pin if you choose to share your location, so your order reaches the right door.
  • What you order, when you ordered it and whether it has been paid, so we can fill the order and keep our records.
  • Whether you have paid and how. We never see or keep your card number or any PIN.
  • If you make an account with us, your email address and a password. We keep the password in a scrambled form, so we cannot read it.
  • What you write if you use a contact form on our website: your name, email address, phone number and message, so we can answer you.
  • Whether you asked to receive offers, or asked us to stop messaging you, so we respect your choice.

How we use it

We use your details for these things:

  • To take your order, get it to you and be paid for it.
  • To tell you how your order is going.
  • To remind you about scheduled orders you set up, and to tell you about offers if you asked for them.
  • To keep our business records and to meet our legal duties.

You can stop reminders and offers at any time, using the link in the message where it has one, or by writing to us. We will still contact you about an order you have placed if we need to, for example if we cannot deliver it.

We do not sell your personal details.

Who handles it for us

We use other companies to run parts of our business. They handle your details only to do that job for us:

  • The company that hosts our website and keeps our records safe on its computers.

Some of these companies keep their computers outside Kenya, so your details may be stored or processed in another country. We may also have to share details with the authorities if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Order and payment records: for as long as the law requires us to keep business and tax records.
  • Your name and contact details: for as long as you are a customer of ours, and for the period the law requires us to keep business and tax records.
  • Messages from our contact form: for as long as we need them to answer you.

When you ask us to delete your details we do, except for the records the law requires us to keep. Those stay with us for that purpose only.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya you have the right to:

  • see the personal details we hold about you, and ask for a copy;
  • have anything that is wrong or out of date corrected;
  • ask us to delete your details (see "Delete your data" below);
  • object to us using your details for messages and offers, which you can do at any time;
  • ask for your details in a form you can take to someone else.

To use any of these rights, use the contact details at the bottom of our website, or reply to any message we have sent you. Tell us what you would like and the name, phone number or email address you used with us. We will answer within a reasonable time and tell you what we have done.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya (odpc.go.ke). You can do that at any time. We would also welcome the chance to put things right ourselves.

Delete your data

You can ask us to delete the personal details we hold about you at any time. This is how:

  1. Use the contact details at the bottom of our website, or reply to any message we have sent you.
  2. Say that you want your data deleted, and give the name, phone number or email address you used with us so we can find it. If you want only some of it deleted, say which.
  3. We may ask you a question about one of your orders, to make sure the request really comes from you.
  4. We delete your details within a reasonable time, and we tell you when it is done.

We keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as the record of a sale for tax purposes, and we tell you if that applies to you.

Cookies

We use a few cookies that the website needs in order to work. They remember what is in your basket, keep you signed in if you have an account, and recognise you when you come back to order again so we can fill in your details for you. We do not use cookies to measure visits or for advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the shop may not work properly without the ones it needs.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your details, we will change this page and the date below.
